How to Become a Web Host

Become Web Host Add comments

Many of the good things in life happen by accident… This statement for me it’s true about how I became a web host.

Yes, it was by accident that how I became a web host.

I’ve created a couple of web-sites in the past and among them it’s my personal blog and a real estate related blog named www.realtorspeaks.com

To be honest with you, I had no idea that I would become a web host and here is how it happened:

I was talking to my accountant about the new web-site I had just released ( www.realtorspeaks.com ), and he told me that it looked pretty good.

He then asked me that if could create a web-site for him where he could list all of his services as an account, tax preparer and bookkeeper.

I told him that I would think about it because it was not my intension to be building web-sites for other people.

After I gave it some thought…I started thinking:  How can I monetize this opportunity?

I loved the idea of making $300 or $500 dollars for creating a web-site but frankly, creating “Active Income” does not move my cheese as creating “Passive Income”

So I thought, what if on top of charging $300.00 for the web-site design…I tell this guy that he could hire me as his “Web-Master” and have my support even after I finish his web-site for future changes he might want to do in his web-site and that instead of charging him what a regular web hosting charges which is around $7.95 for web-hosting, I would charge him $19.97 with the support included.

Since my client it’s very “TECHNO PHOBIC”, he agreed to the $19.97 a month.

So we agreed that I would charge him $19.97 a month and that I would post 1 article per month in his new blog (web-site) and that he would have to give me the information that he wanted me to post in his site.

We all know that a Wordpress Blog, it’s one of the dimpliest web-sites to manage and if you think about it charging $10.00 a month for doing a simply “Cut and Paste” in less than a minute it’s a pretty good investment on your time and getting a residual income of $239.64  (19.97 x 12) per year for 12 minutes of your life it’s a good investment of your time and knowledge.
