Will submitting your website to free link directories improve your search engine ranking?

In today’s ever changing SEO climate it takes more than on-page optimization (Page Title, Description Meta Tag, H1 Tags, Keyword Density, etc) in order to dominate the search engines. Before it used to be as easy as stuffing a website with the same keyword in order to gain quick SEO rankings… but today, it takes a little bit more than just on-page optimization to dominate the search engines.

It’s being said that 30% of your SEO ranking comes from on-page optimization and 70% comes from off-page optimization which is having great quality backlinks pointing to your site. Some people say that the more backlinks you have pointing to your site is the best way you attain high rankings, but that’s not necessary truth nowadays.
Google has been placing more emphasis in the quality of the backlink more than the quantity.

Free link directories has been a cost effective way of getting one way backlinks to your site but will submitting your website to free link directories improve your search engine ranking in today’s seo climate? I decided to do a little test and I think you will like the results.

Are backlinks from Free Link Directories still effective to boost your search engine ranking?

In order to answer this question, I decided to do a little test. In my test, I ordered a manual submission of one of my blogs www.funnyweddingtoastsblogs.com to 1000 free link directories. I hired a freelancer whom I found in the warrior forum to do the manual submission for me. He started doing the manual submissions on August 3rd, 2010 and it took him a little less than a week to complete the job.

My Search engine position on August 3rd,2010 was # 15 in Google for the keyword "Funny Wedding Toasts."

A little bit after a month, I notice a little boost in my search engine ranking. I went from being #15 in Google to being #8.

Conclusions

So as you can see from my little case study, building backlinks from free link directories could be benefit your search engine ranking but you might not see immediate results. In my case it took a little bit over a month to see a boost.

I would not recommend ordering 1,000+ directory submissions if you have a new site as this might cause your website from being "Sandboxed". You can read a little bit more avoiding Google’s Sandbox by clicking here.

The owner of the channel is not trying to monetize the channel in any way.
The owner of the channel does not seem to be internet savvy.

Step #2:   Contact the owner of the video by clicking on the “Send Message” link from his/her channel to               
offer him/her to allow you to advertise in his/her video or channel.

 Here is how the message would look:

 Subject: Hey [name] … I really loved your video…

Hi [Name of Person Here],

My name is Jerry Larach and I’m an internet marketer.

I really love your videos, and the response that they’ve generated with your viewers seems to be just fantastic.

I would like to talk to you about a really easy way for you to earn some quick money

All you need to do is put a link on your video in the description box to a website of mine related to [whatever the subject of the video is here]. It will only take you a couple of seconds to do and I’m prepared to pay you well for doing it.

If that sounds like something you might be interested in, just get back to me with a "yes" and we can discuss the fun stuff Like Payment…..  and how much.

Step #3:   Negotiate via e-mail the fee’s.
Here is how much you offer:    Offer $150.00 for the whole YouTube Channel or $20.00 for just  
letting you stick your website link in the video description.

 At this point, be ready to bargain for a good price.

Step#4: Once you have agreed on a fair price, pay with paypal in exchange for the username and  
password (If you negotiated the whole youTube account) or simply follow up with the owner of the channel  until they have placed your link in the video description.

CONCLUSION
